In the heart of Namibia’s Kunene region, a passionate young man is redefining what it means to be a teacher. Paulus, 32, is currently enrolled in the Early Childhood Development (ECD) Teaching course at DAPP Vocational Training School — a decision driven by a deep sense of responsibility to his community.

“I enrolled for the ECD Teaching course because I felt the need in our community,” Paulus explains. “This course has really opened me up intellectually.”

For Paulus, education is no longer just about literacy. His time at DAPP has transformed his understanding of what it means to be educated.

“I came to understand that being literate or educated is more than just knowing how to read and write,” he says. “What I am learning here has created a sense of awareness in me.”

That awareness has sparked a powerful mission: to pass on knowledge and values to the next generation. Paulus sees himself not just as an educator, but as a catalyst for change.

“Now I know that I am more than just a teacher,” he declares. “I am an agent for change and I will play my role to make things better in my community by ensuring that the children get the education they deserve.”

His gratitude for the opportunity to learn is palpable. “I really appreciate the education I am receiving,” Paulus says with conviction.
